Mari Carmen Aponte

Appointed by a presidential vote of confidence as ambassador to El Salvador, Mari Carmen Aponte became the first Puerto Rican ambassador of this administration. Jose Delgado, the Washington correspondent for El Nuevo Día, and I spent a few hours with her at her home in the Van Ness Neighborhood of Washington. I have grown a bit frustrated with falling into a very particular feel shooting my zoom lens so I decided that for this assignment the holga would come out. I was really pleased with the result. Unfortunately, the newspaper did not choose to run it. Here is how the spread ran.
