Santurce es Ley

Last Saturday I attended Santurce es Ley, an art festival that aims “take back” the city with art installation across the Santurce borough of San Juan. Santurce once the center for art and commerce has fallen into disrepair and neglect. Crime and discrimination are commonplace in the, mostly dominican, immigrant communities that live in the area. These two images got me thinking about exploring this area. Especially because recently younger generations gentrifying and embracing these communities; breathing new life into Santurce.
