Reclaiming the Dream

Last Sunday, my first day back in DC, I covered Rev. Al Sharpton’s “Reclaim The Dream Rally”. The rally was announced in responce to conservative Fox News host Glenn Beck’s own “Restoring Honor” rally at the Lincoln Memorial. Sharpton and other prominent african american figures were appalled that Beck would choose to hold his rally on the 47th aniversary of the “I have a Dream” speech by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I figured there might have been an tinge of tension especially as Sharpton’s rally got to the mall where thousands of conservative americans would be gathered to hear Beck speak. Surprisingly there was a very solid sense of solidarity and peace between both groups. Here are 10 selects.
